What your credit score band means for catalogues
Each credit reference agency uses its own scale, but they all sort people into similar bands. Here's what each band usually opens up.
Excellent / good
Most catalogues, including score-led accounts.
Fair
Many will accept, but limits may be lower to start.
Poor
Score-led accounts usually refuse. Affordability-led plans still consider you.
Very poor
Focus on fixed plans with a soft check, and repair your file alongside.
Moving up a band
- Register to vote at your current address.
- Pay every bill on time for six months straight.
- Keep any credit you use well below its limit.
- Ask the agencies to correct mistakes on your file.
